October 2015:
On the 14th of October 2015, Typhoon Koppu (locally known as Lando) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. An estimate of 22.15 million people may be affected by Typhoon Koppu in the 19 provinces, where storm signals were raised.
A total of seven regions in Central and Northern Luzon, 27 provinces, 19 cities, 192 municipalities and 1,525 barangays are affected. The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the local government units from 4 regions have been mobilised to provide lifesaving support to the affected people.
As of 5th November 2015, it has been reported that there have been 47 deaths, 82 injuries, 4 missing and 762 flooding incidents due to the Typhoon. The figures of the number of people directly affected by the floods are expected to rise, as accessibility to affected areas become more challenging as confirmed reports of landslides, mudslides and flash floods continue to plague the region.
