Multiple earthquakes have struck the island of Lombok in Indonesia, with over 500 fatalities and 350,000 being displaced. As of August 11th, 67,000 houses have been heavily damaged.
North Lombok was first hit by earthquakes of 6.4 & 7 Richter scale on July 29th and August 5th, 2018. This 7 RS earthquake was felt in Denpasar, Mataram, East Lombok, North Lombok, West Lombok, Central Lombok and West Sumbawa. The third earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2RS hit Lombok on August 9th. This earthquake was followed by hundreds of aftershock during that day.
Our Response
CHARIS is working closely with Caritas Indonesia (Karina) to support humanitarian efforts for those affected.
