About Lien Aid
Lien Aid was set up in 2006 through the Lien Foundation - Nanyang Technological University Environmental Endeavour. The Environmental Endeavour (or EE), established within the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI), is a partnership between the Lien Foundation and Nanyang Technological University to advance the provision of clean water and sanitation for the benefit of communities in Asia not yet adequately empowered with sustainable solutions that improve health, alleviate economic stagnation, and mitigate environmental degradation. http://www.lienaid.org
About the speaker
Mr Lim Chee Leong is trained as a civil engineer with experience in civil engineering designs and research-orientated project development. During his post-doctoral research, he worked closely with Lien Aid in the development and deployment of methods to strengthen buildings against earthquakes. The projects include the rebuilding of village homes in Yunnan and the strengthening of schools following the earthquake in Sichuan. During this time, he was involved in project management and evaluation. From this, he was exposed to development projects and the challenges of undertaking these projects in China.
